Baby Goats!

I can not believe it has come full circle and I am now buying my children goats! It seems like just yesterday my parents were buying us (my brothers and sister and I) little kids our first goats :)  Growing up we always had goats around. They are so cute and they are great to have around to tame down areas of your property that have weeds and such that you want to keep under control. Lots of people milk them as well and there are tons of things you can do with their milk. We tried milking for a bit when I was kid but it is A LOT of work and it is a big time commitment. You have to milk them twice a day at the same times so or else it becomes painful for them and you don't want the milk supply to dry up. Anyways to much for me right now.

So we got them to get control of some blackberries we have in one of our fields. Now before you call me crazy for not picking them and eating them let me tell you a few things. First off I don't like them lol. Second they are actually quite a pest of a plant over here. They will literally take over complete areas of your land. They grow so big and so fast! They have the sharpest spikes ever on them to! I got cut several times while we were moving and literally have scars on my legs from them! Nasty little things lol. Third there a many different types of blackberries and the ones in our field are quite bitter. They would be good for jams but I don't have the energy for that right now. Besides there are plenty of them left elsewhere on the property for that :)

Any who here are some pictures of the cute little buggers. They are brother and sister. My Boys are madly in love with them :)

So the goats are in heaven since they have tons of untouched green grass and blackberries all to their little selves :) They won't be little for long though! We are still working on names right now. I will update you on that when we decide :)

The DRY lawn....

So It was my understanding that the seller had to maintain the house and turn it over to us it the same condition it was in when we made the offer...But these people didn't get the memo I guess. We came our to make the offer on the house this is what the lawn looked like.

Nice and lush and green right? Now this is what the lawn looked like the day we moved in.

So Sad :( I was like how are we ever going to make this pretty again :( They had horses out in the pastures and 5 acres is not enough to feed two full grown horses so they had pretty much run it down to dirt out there. They had five large dogs that left lots of big presents for us out in the yard all over to :) So sweet.

But it has been less than a month of us being here, watering a bit and the lovely rain we have been having and this is what the lawn looks like now :)

All Pretty again :) So happy that it all came back fine. The fields as you can see in the way back of the picture are even getting pretty green now that the horses are off it. We are happy about this since winter is coming so it will help a little with the mud!

OK just wanted to show you the miracle we worked on our lawn :)

We Finally Moved!!

Our moving journey has taken many months to finally nail down the exact date that it would happen. We had no idea when we originally made the offer to buy this house that the home buying process would be so stressful! It literally consumed my life until it was over! I couldn't relax until we signed the papers. Buying a house is not for wimps that is for sure!

But we did it! We looked and looked for about 6 months waiting for the perfect house to come along. It seems hopeless! But one day we checked the listings and this house came up. It had been on the market the whole time we were looking but they just dropped the price down into our range. We drove straight out to do a drive by because those realtors can be pretty tricky with their pictures so we wanted to make sure it was the real deal before we got excited.

We loved what we saw on the outside so we called the realtor and got right in to see it the next day and made the offer on the spot! We were so excited to be able to buy acreage. We can't see our neighbors! So awesome. We knew walking around the place that this was going to be the perfect place to raise our boys and plants some permanent roots.

Stephen and I both grew up in a small town in Eastern Washington out in the country and just really missed the lifestyle. We have a blank slate at this new house and can not wait to make it our own :)

Cheers to the next Chapter!

Here are a few pictures of the property :)
